Severely Atypical Mole at Manhattan Dermatology
Fall is a great time to think about visiting your dermatologist for a total body skin check. Did you know that you can develop skin cancers in your scalp, mouth, or other places where the sun doesn’t shine?
Annual skin checks should start in your 20’s, but you should come in anytime you have a non-healing, persistent lesion (like a sore that doesn’t heal) or a new or changing mole. Recently, one of my patients came in with the mole picture here on her leg. It turned out to be a severely atypical mole and needed to be removed. This is just the kind of thing you should be looking for.
